For dreamers and shippers

All you need is a healthy dose of imagination

Monday Couple ended a long time ago. So did my shipping of them.

What about Ruivin? Chances are slim that they’d actually get tgt in real life /: As much as I’d love to see them have a happy-ever-after life I know more likely than not they’d remain as friends, or even, just colleagues.

Is this realism a product of what it means to grow up?

Why and What I love about Kang Gary: His attitude. His confidence – he knows what he’s capable of, and he doesn’t see the need to prove himself to anyone. He excels in almost anything he puts his mind to, and is a living example of the phrase “Never judge a book by its cover”. KG is a smart, witty and fantastic rapper who’s very protective of people close to him. He’s not afraid of making mistakes and laughing at himself. What he lacks in height (not that I’m any taller), he more than makes up for in character and consideration, be it his bad boy persona or the smitten half of Monday Couple in RM, or just by being himself.

  1. As do I, and I love you too

“Good job everyone! Let’s take five before filming the next segment!” The PD announced to the Running Man cast and crew. Gary swiftly unclipped his mic and sauntered towards his car, intending to grab the herbal tea he had prepared in the morning.

“Kang Gary! Wait for me!” Gary turned towards the familiar voice, his heart leaping at the sight of Ji-hyo rushing towards him.

“I see you couldn’t stand being away from me for too long after all, huh?” he smirked as she caught up with him and looped her hand through the crook of his arm.

“No, I didn’t want you to feel cold without me,” Ji-hyo grinned cheekily and held his hand tightly, interlocking her fingers with his.

There was a mischievous glint in Gary’s eyes as he suddenly stopped and pulled Ji-hyo into his embrace, then effortlessly swept her up in his arms and resumed walking to his car.

“Hey, Kang Gary, put me down! Everyone’s watching!” Ji-hyo protested, trying to stop him.

“Weren’t you worried about me being cold? I feel much warmer carrying you this way,” Gary chortled in return, holding her more securely. You must also be exhausted from playing that hellish game, he thought silently.

Soon after, they reached his car. Gary gently placed Ji-hyo on the passenger seat then reached for the hot flasks he had left in the drinks holder and handed one to her.

“Drink up, beautiful. I don’t want you falling sick in this weather. Oh, and this is for you. It might help in relieving your insomnia these days.” Gary tried to sound nonchalant as he passed a package to her, but his pulse quickened when Ji-hyo gasped in recognition, looking visibly touched. Before he had a chance to pull away, Ji-hyo leant forward and hugged him tightly, then kissed him on the cheek.

“I love you, Kang Gary, but you already know that, don’t you? I’m really lucky to have you.”

“As do I, and I love you too.”

  1. The prelude

BGI: Gary & Ji-hyo on a coffee run amidst filming for Running Man

“I would love to know what’s going on in that gorgeously mysterious head of yours.” Gary had an uncanny ability in reading people well. However, try as he might, Ji-hyo remained as inscrutable to him as she had always been. He couldn’t gaze deep into her soul as he could for most people.

“The same can be said about you,” Ji-hyo retorted. “I don’t know what you’re thinking, always hiding your pain from me. Let me shoulder some of it. Stop trying to protect me from everything.”

“I’m an open book,” he disagreed. “That’s why you, and everyone else, knew how I felt about you even before I acknowledged those feelings.

“You, on the other hand, Mong Ji, are superb at masking your emotions. The only thing that betrayed the slightest hint of your feelings was that habit of yours which no one else knows about.”

“I wanted you to be the first and only one to find out,” she smiled, casually bumping her shoulder against his. “Here’s your caramel macchiato, just the way you like it.”

  1. The history

He was in love with her from the moment they met. He had known then that she was the one for him, the one he had been waiting for.

She felt as if she had known him forever. She had never been so at ease with another man as she was with him. Once they had gotten past the initial awkwardness, he was one of the rare few to whom she was able to express herself fully, and freely.

Although Monday Couple had been going on for years, their real-life relationship had only started recently. Gary recalled feeling like the luckiest man alive the day Ji-hyo reciprocated his love. He knew that it would be a difficult journey for them, but was certainly not giving up on their future together either.
